Welcome writers

To any budding writers out there please note in your diary the Greenock Writers’ Club starts again on the 5th of September, 7:30pm at Ardgowan Bowling Club (across from the Tontine Hotel).

All welcome. You don’t have to be an accomplished writer to join our club. Our members are all at different stages and levels of writing.

So whether your thing is poetry, short stories, writing articles or perhaps novels, please come along.

We are a friendly writers’ club based in Inverclyde, open to anyone with an interest in developing their literary skills. Our members come from various walks of life with different interests and experiences, however, we all share a passion for writing.

Our syllabus is specifically designed to encourage, challenge and improve us as writers, through workshops in poetry, flash fiction, drama, non-fiction articles and many other genres. We also entertain (and are entertained by) regular guest speakers, many of whom are published authors such as our honorary president, Cathy MacPhail.

We aim to provide a fun and friendly environment in which to hone our talents. Our six annual competitions cover a wide range of genres, allowing everyone the chance to shine in their own field of expertise or to try out styles they might not otherwise have attempted. We also hold a number of smaller competitions throughout the year in the hope that there really is something for everyone.

Our annual fee is a modest £35 and new members are welcome to attend for free for a couple of meetings before choosing to join.

If you have any other queries, please do contact us.

We look forward to meeting you!
