We were all shortbread-ed out! Burns’ night at Greenock Writers’ Club, and if our resident sweet-heart Edith wasn’t sweet enough there was fudge and tablet too. We might have only been toasting Burns with cold water and hot tea but we certainly got into the spirit of things. Rab C Nesbitt made a couple of guest appearances. Lord Byron and Del Boy gave it laldy. Angela Merkel was out of her depth. And let’s not forget Edith’s toy boy, the Pakistani who works in the chippy … There was plenty of platonic stuffing, metaphorical mounting and sticking it in (but no hochmagandy). And there was a smorgasbord of Scot’s language to chew over, swallow and digest. Big thank you to Edith and the troops. Yaldi!
