It was a great start to the new season tonight. We welcomed a number of visitors who came along to hear and see what Greenock Writers’ are about.

We played a game of Poetry Bingo which was a great ice-breaker for the members and visitors. Isobel read out a selection of Poetry and the members had to guess the author and mark off their bingo cards,

We then had an exercise of taking a line from a famous poem and writing our own poem around this line. It was interesting how many poems involved the consumption of alcohol – a tell-tale sign of our members habits.

The members and guests were given an insight into the upcoming competitions.

Overall a good fun night was had by all. Our club mascot Digby the Dog kept himself busy by rummaging through a member’s bag finding to his joy a big marrow bone and some treats. He devoured the treats and reluctantly gave the bone back at the end of the evening.
