Well last night saw the first club meeting of Greenock Writer Club in these corona challenged times. To conform with safety concerns the new season took to the ether to meet via the technology of ZOOM! We had about about fourteen members flexing their technological know-how though it has to be said Zoom is not that complicated and what few issues members had were soon ironed out by a group effort of helpful assistance. Its certainly worth having a go.

Some general news to report Edith’s book is just about done (much thanks to Isobel, Tony and Grahame) and will soon be available on Amazon. Fees this year will be £25 and competition entries will hopefully be able to be submitted via the website from 21st Sept.

Alas there has been no AGM so incumbent committee members are determinedly stumbling onwards in post. There was talk of an EGM to oust them but I suspect even an RPG won’t stop that bunch organising competitions and a syllabus to entertain and enthral members for the coming season.

El Presidente Grahame kicked matters off with an informative talk on who to market yourself as an Indie Author. His power-point slides should be winging their way to you as I type. This is fortunate as I missed the first 10 minutes of his talk as I was preoccupied with perusing David’s bookshelves. Yeah it was definitely a little weird doing all this via Zoom. Strangely one thing I missed was the tea-break (even though I don’t take tea!). I did see though that a few people had came prepared with large mugs of assorted beverages!

The next Zoom meeting is in two weeks time on 23rd Sep ‘Putting The Fun Into Poetry’ by Dave Watson so hopefully see you all there. Grahame will no doubt send out invitations to one and all,

Oh I’m doing a peer editing Zoom session in early November. Should be pretty much the same as the ones we’ve held in the club before. So if any of you have a story or poem you feel club members could help you with email me at the below address.

Ho Hum, onwards and upwards.
