CONDITIONS OF ENTRY:

GREENOCK WRITERS’ CLUB COMPETITIONS ONLY

(PLEASE READ CAREFULLY)

ELIGIBILTY: Entries will be accepted from honorary members and from members who have paid (or are in the process of paying by instalments) their membership fees for the session in which the competition is being held.

PROCEDURES FOR SUBMISSION OF ENTRIES:

COVER PAGE: All entries should have a cover page laid out as follows:

  • At the top of the page – the name of the club;
  • In the middle of the page –  the title of the entry;
  • a ONE WORD pseudonym;
  • and the competition for which it is entered;
  • at the foot of the page – the number of words (or lines) used. 

Pseudonyms should be changed from year to year and a different pseudonym must be used for each competition entered.

SUBMISSION OF ENTRIES: All competition entries must be submitted through the GWC website: www.greenockwriters.co.uk Entries submitted by email or post will not be accepted.

The competitions for the year will be listed.
Select the competition you wish to enter, for example, Enter Competition 1.

Fill in the entry form to submit your entry – select the competition you are entering and upload your document.

PLEASE NOTE:

  1. Your entry should be in .doc .docx or pdf format. No other format will be accepted.
  2. All major word processing softwares have the ability to SAVE AS – when this appears look at File Type and select one of the above – your file will then save.
  3. Stories and articles should be double-spaced. Poems should be single-spaced.
  4. Ensure that nothing on the manuscript will identify you. Personal information should only be given on the online entry form.
  5. The cover page should NOT be numbered.
  6. You may find it helpful to set up a template for your Cover Page that you can amend for each competition you enter.
  7. You may submit only ONE entry per competition.
  8. If your entry does not comply with the set word limits, it will not be eligible for an award.
  9. Submission dates are recorded in the competition list and syllabus circulated at the start of the session. Late entries may be accepted by prior arrangement with the Competition Secretary.
